Toy Story – Brings Toys to Life

Toy Story is an animated feature film and was released in 1995. It is based on characters that are toys residing in six year old Andy’s room. The movie was produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures.
Andy plays with his toys, with his favorite being Woody the cowboy doll. Other toys in the story include Mr. Pototo Head, Slinky Dog, Hamm and Rex the dinosaur. When Andy leaves the room all the toys come to life. It is on Andy’s birthday that he receives a new toy called Buzz Lightyear. When Andy comes running into his room with Buzz all the other toys have returned to their places. After Andy leaves the room Buzz Lightyear announces to all the other toys that he is on a peaceful mission and that he is an intergalactic space ranger on a mission to save everyone from evil. Woody soon becomes jealous of Buzz and the story develops into an adventure for Andy’s collection of toys.
In the original Toy Story film Tim Allen and Tom Hanks played the voices of Buzz Lightyear and Woody respectively. Don Rickles played the voice of Mr Potato Head and John Morris played the voice of Andy. Toy Story became a blockbuster movie and received many awards including an Academy Award for Academy Special Achievement awarded to John Lasseter for techniques in developing the first feature length computer animated film.
Since the original Toy Story film was released there have been various home video and DVD releases and many video game releases of Toy Story. The sequel to Toy Story was released in 1999, ‘Toy Story 2′, together with the movie ‘Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins’ and ‘Buzz Lightyear of Star Command’ the television series. ‘Toy Story 3′ is scheduled for release in 2010 and is set to feature the original characters from Andy’s room.
